WE HAVE BROUGHT INNOVATION INTO OUR EXAMINATIONS PROCESSES – Exams Board

 Deploying technological innovation in our examination processes and procedures is the only way to go.Thankfully, technological development today offers ample opportunities to select a good mix of applications which will always keep us on top of the game. The enduring and unwavering support of his Excellency,Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and her Her Excellency,The Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Idiat Adebule in strengthening our hands to deliver examinations whose outcome is marked by a high level of transparency and integrity.

Below are some of this innovations: Introduction of Computer Based for Screening Test (CBT) The first in Nigeria to be conducted by any examination body, had its maiden edition in 2015 with 17 candidates, 54 candidates in 2016 and 76 candidates in 2017.Plans are on the way to increase the CBT centres across the 5 divisions of the state. The use of Digital Innovation Question Paper (DIQP).

DIQP involves randomization of questions and answers options into 38,000 types that have no similarities or resemblance. The embossment of candidates’ photographs, barcode and bio-data of candidates added value to the Paper Pencil Test Version. This was done to eliminate examination malpractices. First of its kind in the history of Nigeria, if not in Africa. Production of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Sheets The use of OMR sheets for Screening Test, BECE and Placement Test have added va lue to the examinations and reduced the incidence of examination malpractices to a reasonable level.

Over the years the board has also been conducting the following the following exams successfully : Screening Test for admission into the State Junior Model Colleges / Upgraded Junior Secondary schools in the state; Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both Public and Approved Private Junior Secondary schools; Placement Test for primary six (6) pupils transiting into the Lagos State public Secondary chools; Public Service Examinations; Trade Test for artisans in Public and Private Establishments; Issuance of certificates to successful candidates with embossment of candidates’ photographs and Lagos State Logo and Issuance of attestation to successful pupils that partook in Placement Test.
