No doubt education has been described as the ultimate in achieving excellence in every facet of human life. It is in line with this philosophy that Yaba Local Council Development Area (YLCDA ) under the leadership of Honourable Kayode Adejare Omiyale has made good his electioneering campaign of giving priority to schools and pupils Yaba. Having spent most of his life as a classroom teacher in Yaba foray into politics was no surprise to people of Yaba Local Council Development Area (YLCDA) .
The Executive chairman Yaba LCDA on assumption of office visited some of the primary schools in the LCDA to ascertain the
state of affairs of the schools and what can be done.The visit of the schools revealed a lot of things. Part of the discoveries was shortage of books, inadequate teachers, peer pressure on some of the students and lack of mentoring among others. In arresting some of the challenges as soon as possible and having a strategy and a workplan for structural challenges,the executive chairman gave books and educational materials to over 12000 pupils in the development area.
The council believes in Public Private Partnership ( PPP ) in tackling some of the structural challenges of schools in the area. Private individual have pledged their willingness to partner with the council in order to move education forward in Area.
… CANVASSES FOR CHILDREN TO STAY IN SCHOOLS
The Executive Chairman Yaba LCDA Hon.Kayode Omiyale has charged the members of the Parent Teacher Association Mainland to ensure that children of school age stay in schools irrespective of their parental background. ‘Children that live within this Local Government must be enrolled in schools, whether they live with their Biological parents or guidance. ‘According to the Chairman, it has been observed that when we send only our Biological children to school to the detriment of those who help to train the children, we are creating everlasting enmity..it is the determination of this administration to ensure that hawking within the Mainland Local Government, which includes Yaba LCDAIs totally outlawed.
Omiyale said necessary logistic will be provided by his administration with little token to assist the PTA members to monitor children from street to street, house to house by encouraging their parents to send their children or wards to schools stressed that theonly way to eliminate illiteracy is to ensure that all children have equal assess to education despite their parental , economic or social strata in the society.
The Chairman PTA, Mr Olusoji Adams thanked the Chairman for opportunities provided by the administration and promise their unwavering loyalty in keeping children in schools during school hours.
