Lagos Celebrates Day Of Persons Living With Disabilities

 

First Lady of Lagos State, Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola has called on people with special needs not to allow their limitations to hold them down as they have been created by God for a purpose.

Mrs. Fashola who made the call in Lagos on the occasion of year 2014 International Day of Persons Living with Disabilities further urged them to always use the innate abilities that God has given them since they are able and not disabled.

The First Lady who was represented by the wife of the State Commissioner for Physical Planning, Mrs. Rhoda Ayinde opined that the children with special needs have been wonderfully created by God hence they are no less special than other children.

“I congratulated you all for all the wonderful performances you displayed here today. For me, it is a confirmation that God has a purpose for you in life and let me assure you that a situation is not a limitation and as such you should not allow any situation to hold you down,” she noted.

Mrs. Fashola urged the children to work harder in their studies and believe in themselves just as she appreciated and commended those who have partnered with the state government one way or the other to meet the needs of these children.

She also lauded the efforts of teachers and caregivers of the children praying to God to continue to strengthen and bless them as well as care for all that is theirs as well.
