In recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to the upliftment and development of Science and Technology in Lagos State and in Nigeria generally; Mr. Adebayo Ibiyeye, the Lagos State Director of Science and Technology in the Ministry of Education was hounoured by Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) with Professional Fellowship Awards. Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) is an umbrella body of all Chemists in Nigeria which among other things, seeks to protect the professional interest of chemists as well as promote the propagation, study and practice of the science of chemistry in Nigeria.
The society recently had its 40th Annual International Conference in Kaduna State where distinguished members were honoured with Fellowship Awards. Speaking at the Award Ceremony, CSN President, Professor Gloria Obuzor affirms that the admission of any member of the noble society into the fellowship cadre is an elevation and a clear testimony to the fact that such a member has finally reached his or her professional career. Reacting to the award, Her Excellency, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Idiat Adebule and the entire education family rejoice with Ibiyeye on his landmark achievements.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mr. Odeyemi Adesina who conveyed the goodwill message to Mr. Adebayo Ibiyeye on behalf of the Deputy Governor charged him not to rest on his oars but to train others too. With his creative mind, passion and dedication to service, Mr. Adebayo Ibiyeye has been instrumental to several successes recorded in Lagos State in science and technology competitions, projects fairs and exhibitions both at national and international levels. It would be recalled that Lagos State has been winning lots of laurels from both at the national and international levels. Just recently, Team Lagos emerged 1st position at the 2017 National ‘JET’ competition.
Below are some of the successes recorded: – Lagos State emerged as overall Best at the 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Nigerian Robot Olympiad and represent Nigeria at the World Robot Olympiad in Malaysia, Indonesia, Qatar, India and Costa Rica respectively. – Lagos State emerged as overall Best at 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 National Festival of Science Fair and represented Nigeria at the 2014, 2015, 2016 International Science and engineering Fair (ISEF) in USA. – Lagos School won Excellence Award at 2000 Worldwide Young Researchers for the Environment (WYRE) Fair if Germany. –Won Gold and Silver Medals at the 2002 and 2004 Exkom Expo for Young Scientist in South Africa respectively.
