Mrs. Sewanu A. Amosu
Mrs. Sewanu Ayodele Amosu nee Avoseh was born on the 5th of July, I958 in Oyo, Oyo State. She attended St Andrews College Demonstration School, Oyo between 1965 – 1967, United Missionary College Demonstration School, Ibadan between 1967 and 1969, Queen’s School, Ibadan from 1970 to 1974, Atakumosa High School, Osu, Osun State from 1974 and 1975, University of Ife, Ile Ife from 1975 to 1980 from where she obtained a B. A. Education (French) and the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife from 1984 to 1987 from where she had a Master of Art degree in Education Technical.
She started her teaching/administrative experience at the Eric Moore High School, Surulere in 1981 when she was employed as a Master Grade II Officer and between 1983 and 1992 she was at the Ife Girls’ High School, Ile Ife. She was the Head of Inspectorate Office, Badagry between 1993 and 1999, Administrator, Local Education District, Ojo from 2001 and 2003, Head of Department, Basic Education Services from 2003 and 2006, Head of Department, Policy Implementation Unit from 2006 and 2008 and from 2008 till date she has been heading the directorate of Private Education and Special Programmes.
Mrs. Amosu’s major achievements include among others revamping merit awards for Teachers, Principals and Students in the state, revamping the Lagos State Chapter of the Joint Consultative Committee on Education and the publication of official guidelines for the establishment of private institutions in the state.
Mrs. Amosu whose hobbies include reading, travelling and Haute cuisine speaks English, French and Yoruba fluently and is married with children.
