Mr. Gbenga Alao


Mr. Joseph Olugbenga Alao was born on February 1st 1956 to the family of Pastor and Mrs. Amos Olayinka Alao of Oke-Oyi, Ilorin East Local government in Kwara State. He started his primary education at the Local Authority Primary School, Oke-Oyi in 1963 and had his secondary education at Government Secondary School, Ilorin between 1971 and 1976. He then proceeded to the Kwara State College of Technology (School of Basic Studies) Ilorin from where he bagged his GCE/A Level of Cambridge University and in 1984, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Ilorin. He also obtained a post graduate diploma in education (PGDE) and a Masters degree in Geography both from the University of Lagos.

Mr. Alao began his working experience in 1986 when he took up an appointment with the Lagos State Government as a Master Grade II teacher at Ogunmodede College, Papa in Epe. He was appointed an Inspector of Education in 1990 at the Epe Inspectorate Area Office and was redeployed to Alimosho Inspectorate Area Office in 1992.  In 1995, Mr. Alao was posted to the Inspectorate Headquarters from where he was further redeployed to Kosofe Local Education District of Basic Education Services department as a Principal Education Officer and Head of the Schools Administration Unit of the Local Education District. In 2008, he was redeployed to the Lagos State Educational Resource Center and in 2010 he became the head of the directorate of the Center.

Mr. Joseph Olugbenga Alao was awarded the 1996 Inspector of the Year Merit Award Certificate in recognition of his devotion to duty and appreciation of his loyalty and selfless service towards ensuring maintenance of high standard in the Lagos state education system.

He is a Christian, an elder of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and is married with children.
